In the place of a standard fully threaded fastener, the 316 Stainless Steel captive fastener, screws through a threaded hole, and the plain shank section allows the screw to move loosely.
It is recommended that counterbore lengths for application should be greater than the thread length of the captive fastener, therefore L2>L1.
